Reporting the News Forms of Communication

NEWS Why are people so interested in the NEWS? From the beginning of time people have wanted to know what was happening in their community and around the world.

Did you know? Did you know that information was once communicated by messengers who would run from their home to other communities which at times where many, many miles away.

Did you know? Did you know that native Americans would communicate by using smoke signals and drum beats?

Weve come a long way Today we communicate with people around the world in mere seconds. Computer technology means that we can now access information on every available topic instantaneously.

Your Task Choose a news item… this could be a current affair that is happening anywhere in the world, or perhaps you would prefer to stay a little closer to home and report on an event within your school.

Presenting the News Choose a method to report the news. You may like to: Create a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation Write a newspaper article in Microsoft Publisher or Microsoft Word Publish a web page created in Microsoft Front Page

Presenting the News Record a video presentation and edit it using Microsoft Movie Maker Create a video clip from still images and narration using Microsoft Photo Story Combine a PowerPoint presentation with video in Microsoft Producer The choice is yours!

Evaluating the Task You will be required to present your published project to your class. Your classmates will all have a feedback form to fill out. When completing the feedback questionnaire, remember to praise a job well done and make suggestions on how to improve. Enjoy learning about forms of communication!
