Sock Puppets Select the Sock Puppet app on your iPad. Select New. Students will practice their vocabulary words for the story “Merlin and the Dragon” by using the Sock Puppet app on the iPad. They will record one of the puppets asking the other puppet the meaning of the stories vocabulary words. Follow the directions below to complete the activity. Select the Sock Puppet app on your iPad. Select New. Select at least two Characters and touch Next. Select Background and touch Next. Select the Props and Scenery you want and touch Next. Then, you will record one of the puppets reading the sentence with the story’s vocabulary word and then ask the other puppet the meaning of the vocabulary word. The other puppet will then reply with his best guess as to what the word means from the context clues from the sentence. Pick one of the puppets to read the vocabulary word’s definition from the textbook. Then, the other puppet will use the word in an original sentence. The recording will only last 30 seconds; so, you will need to write the dialogue before you begin this task! This task uses: Common Core/NG Standard(s): CCSS ELA-Literacy.RL.7.10.4 Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative and connotative meanings, analyze the impact of rhymes and other repetitions of sounds (alliteration) on a specific verse or stanza of a poem or section of a story or drama.
