The War in the West By: Michael Simon and Jeel Patel

t What happened before: What happened before: before the revolutionary war moved to the west the eastern colonies declared independence from Britain and started a war. What motivated the people involved: the people involved were motivated to fight by the idea of religious freedoms and new freedoms. The goal of the American Patriot army was to earn freedom from Britain. The goal of the British army was to keep control of the American colonies.

` Battles main points: Battles of Saratoga 1777, Labales Defeat 1780 Ft. St Joseph, 1781 Petit Fort 1781,1781 Blue Licks , Harmar’s Defeat 1782, Lochry’s Defeat 1781 Blue Licks Battle of Yorktown 1781, and St. Clair’s Defeat 1791 were all battles fought in the western portion of the colonies Most of the battles fought in the West were significant to the turn out of the war the most significant battle being Saratoga the turning point of the war for the Colonists in America

Indians in the war in the West: `During the Revolutionary War, 13,000 American Indians, representing several tribes, fought for the British. And Great Britain did not consult their American Indian allies during the peace process at the end of the war and local tribes were nowhere mentioned in treaty terms. And British forces in the American west used the settlement of Detroit as the base of operations to deal with Indians Year of Blood: the year of blood was a time in the west were the war turned gruesome and both sides began destroying Native American settlements.

The outcome: The outcome of the war in the west of the colonies was with the American Patriots winning Yorktown and in turn the war. The end of the war in the west caused many Canadians to distrust the American population and all of the nations even remotely involved The end of the war in the west affects us now because even if we had won the war the British may have taken the west and we (Penn, Michigan, etc.) would all be ruled by the British.
