The Anti-Semitism Act Anti-Semitism is the act of discrimination and/or hostility against Jews. This act did not begin with Adolf Hitler. There is evidence that show the hostile behaviors towards Jews before the Holocaust. 1.) The Enlightenment in the 17th and 18th centuries, emphasized religious toleration. 2.) In the 19th century Napoleon and other European rulers enacted legislation that ended long-standing restrictions on Jews.

Adolf Hitler and the Jews Adolf Hitler’s roots of hostile and violent brand of Anti- Semitism is unclear. He served in the German army during World War I and blamed the Jews for their loss. After the events of the war, he joined the National German Workers’ Party, which then became the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NSDAP). His memoir, “Mein Kampf” (My Struggle) predicted a general European war that results in “the extermination of all Jews”.
