Oakridge Mission:  To provide a safe and welcoming environment where the achievement gap is eliminated, and all students are happy, healthy and engaged learners who excel academically. Oakridge Vision: Through purposeful teaching, every child will be a lifelong learner and critical, global thinker.

Kindergarten Sample Schedule

Specials Art P.E. Music CUBE FLES Counseling (bimonthly) Science Enrichment (monthly)

Math Concepts are typically first introduced whole group and then reinforced using games played with partners and small groups instructed by the teacher. Our CUBE teachers also reinforce learning during the weekly CUBE lessons. We spiral back to previous learning to keep skills fresh. We consistently monitor student learning and offer extra help in the classroom to ensure understanding. Formal assessments are administered quarterly. Corinne

Literacy Reading strategies and skills are introduced whole group and then reinforced through Literacy Stations and Guided Reading groups. Guided Reading: Students are grouped by reading ability and receive small group reading instruction. Shared reading is an interactive reading strategy in which the class engages in a shared, choral reading experience guided by a teacher. Writing Workshop is an opportunity for students to engage in authentic writing. Katie

Homework Students are expected to read every night Grade level teams will send home a quarterly newsletter outlining new learning opportunities and optional activities for home to support the standards

Class Jobs and Behavior Class jobs: promote shared responsibility; line leader and caboose rotate daily, other jobs rotate on a weekly basis. Behavior: “3Ts” We take care of ourselves. We take care of each other. We take care of this place.
