COPD Patient Focus Group Summary Report Arnprior Area Rural Health Hub

Purpose To provide real life insights and experiences to help develop an honest picture of your patient journey in Arnprior region To provide insights on your interactions with the health care system in the Arnprior region To identify strengths, weaknesses, desires, and realistic opportunities of how services providers can better work to help patients and clients in Arnprior region.

Key Findings Strengths Weaknesses Diagnosis and scheduling Consistent patient history and integrated records Knowledgeable health professionals Caring health care professionals Limited upstream initiatives Lack of all-in-one COPD patient information package and possibly tools Limited awareness of after hours support and care programs Limited programs and services Limited patient information sessions, educational sessions and social communication events

Opportunities Introduce upstream initiatives to promote health awareness to younger population or early onset COPD patients or families with smoking history Coordinated development and distribution / availability of all-in-one COPD patient information package Better navigation to after hours support and care options Initiate patient information sessions, educational sessions, and social communication events
