Design and Modeling Mr. Conway Designing Wind Power Design and Modeling Mr. Conway

Wind Power Wind power is a growing industry and millions of dollars are being spent every year to build wind farms all over the US. The need for the best and most efficient wind turbines is extremely high. Wind power only accounts for about 2% of the total power produced in the USA, and the only way for the number to increase is to have wind turbines that are always improving.

Parts of a wind Turbine

Air Foil How do airplanes fly?

Weight Does the total weight of a wind turbine blade effect its efficiency? Does the weight distribution of a wind turbine blade effect its efficiently?

What would happen if we twisted the blade? Wind Speeds Can the wind blow to fast? How do we stop a wind turbine? What would happen if we twisted the blade?

Specifications Some wind turbines have a blade span diameter of 154 meters, which is equal to the length of 1½ football fields. Twice the wing span of a large airliner jet. Your design must have an 8inch or less diameter.

Your design What makes a good wind turbine blade? Length? Weight? Shape? Color? Width? Material?
