PURPOSE – WHY WE COACH! 5 LIFE SKILLS DISCIPLINE PHYSICAL CONDITIONING WINNING IS OUR GOAL BUT NOT OUR PURPOSE. OUR PURPOSE IS PROVIDING LIFE LESSONS THROUGH TEACHABLE MOMENTS 5 LIFE SKILLS DISCIPLINE PHYSICAL CONDITIONING RELATING TO PEERS RELATING TO AUTHORITY REACTING TO AND HANDLING EMOTION

GOALS PLAYOFFS 5-5A DISTRICT CHAMPIONS PLAY ON THANKSGIVING 5A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

4th & INCHES Don’t think about winning the 5-5A District Championship. Don’t think about the State Championship. Think about what you need to do today, in this drill, on this play, in this moment. That’s the 4th & Inches Mentality. Think about what we can do today, the task at hand. EVERYBODY - EVERYDAY

COACHES EXPECTATIONS LOVE AND CARE ABOUT OUR PLAYERS! 100% EFFORT IN DEVELOPMENT OF THE STUDENT ATHLETE Create a positive, enthusiastic, family atmosphere that builds confidence and character. Make sure Football is FUN! Hold your son accountable for his actions. Open line of communication with players and parents Help in placement/recruiting (after the season) for your sons plans after high school. (Webinar on website) ACADEMICS!! 24/7 – 365 – Do what is right for kids! FAIR BUT NOT THE SAME

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS Student – athlete: student comes first designated tutorial times / RIOT time (9th AM and PM daily; Varsity/JV – AM) No Zero Tolerance Policy; Mandatory tutorials for 75 and below ATTENDANCE, ATTITUDE, EFFORT BE COACHABLE – WILLING TO DO WHATEVER IS BEST FOR THE TEAM! POSITION / TEAM PLACEMENT – results, productivity, trust, knowledge. Players will EARN everything! Understand you represent LSHS Football 24/7 – SOCIAL MEDIA! Grooming/shaving/earrings/hair length – Locking Lockers at all times! Communication with coaching staff – should come from PLAYER! Late, Sick, Academics, any issue, etc…

ROLES / OPPORTUNITIES EVERYONE has value! EVERYONE has an important role! EMBRACE your role! It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit. – Harry Truman Control what you can Control! ATTITUDE / EFFORT Opportunities multiply as they are seized! Quality not Quantity

PARENT COMMUNICATION IF YOU HAVE A CONCERN TO DISCUSS WITH A COACH-PLEASE FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE BELOW 1. Make sure your SON / ATHLETE openly communicates with his position coach, coordinator, and head coach. We cannot help if we do not know there is a problem. This should occur BEFORE a coach receives an email or phone call from parent. We are trying to teach these young men responsibility. 2. Request a time to meet with the coach and your son/daughter. 3. Please do not confront a coach before or after a practice or game. These can be emotional times for the parent, athlete, and the coach. These meetings rarely yield positive results. 4. Avoid long emails that make accusations without knowing all the facts. At Lone Star High School we prefer personal communication. 5. SUPPORT IS A MUST! You may not Agree, but players need to hear the same message! It takes all of us!

PRACTICE In order for us to maintain a great program we must have our kids present and committed to practice. Missing practices will directly affect playing time. On Saturday’s Varsity team will be required to be at LSHS for video/practice; this will go on through out the football season every Saturday. This is the same as a practice. If players are injured they are expected to be at all team meetings, practices, video sessions; dressed out, obtaining mental reps. Trainers and doctors will oversee rehab and make decisions regarding injuries.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS SHOES, GLOVES, SLEEVES, TOWELS, ETC… UNIFORM ATHLETES ONLY WEAR WHAT WE PROVIDE or APPROVED BY HEAD COACH; NO EXTRA PINK, only wristbands we provide SHOES, GLOVES, SLEEVES, TOWELS, ETC… UNIFORM

OPERATIONAL FEE Why? Every year expenses to run an athletic program increases.  Some include officials, security, transportation, game workers, laundry and equipment. Revenue generated from athletics is not enough to cover all the expenses, and therefore the athletic budget must cover the remainder. With the TRE not passing and the lack of funding from the State, the athletic budget has not increased to cover additional costs. To off-set this deficit, two unacceptable options are available: cut athletic programs by reducing participation and/or reduce the number coaches which will cause a reduction in participation. One acceptable option is to ask parents to pay an operational fee, to off-set this deficit, that will keep coaches and keep all programs we currently have in place.

OPERATIONAL FEE-2 How? Frisco ISD students who choose to participate in athletics will be asked to pay an annual operational fee. Middle School Athletes will pay an annual fee of $100 and High School Athletes will pay an annual fee of $200. This single fee will cover participation in all athletic activities for the duration of the school year. High school student athletes in programs beginning practice and/or competition prior to the first day of school should pay their fee by August 24, 2018. High school students participating in athletic programs with practice and competition beginning on or after the first day of school should pay their fee prior to their first game. Fee payments may be submitted through your student’s MyPaymentsPlus account. If necessary, checks or cash will also be accepted for fee payment. Refunds will only be granted in the following situations: A student quits prior to the first competition or a student withdraws from Frisco ISD prior to the first competition. No refunds will be issued after the last day of the school year. There will be a maximum fee of $400 per family. A waiver form must be submitted once a family has reached the $400.00 maximum in order to waive any additional athletic fees charged to the family. Fee waivers will be automatically granted to students who are part of the free/reduced lunch program. Families who have special financial circumstances or hardships but are not currently part of the free/reduced lunch program may also apply for a waiver. Waiver forms may be obtained by contacting your student’s head high school coach or middle school campus coordinator.
