1800s Wars 1st President On April 30, 1789, George Washington, standing on the balcony of Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York, took his oath of office as the first President of the United States •May 1801 - First Barbary War: Tripoli, Tangier, Algiers and Tunis declare war on the United States

1800 century War President #2 •February 9, 1801 1797- 1801 French Revolutionary Wars: The War of the Second Coalition ends when the Austrian and French sign the Treaty of Lunéville President #2 1797- 1801 John Adams Was more remarkable as a political philosopher than as a politician many people say.
