Credible Adjective Believable/Reputable Cred = belief (incredible, street cred…) His story seemed credible, so the police let him go.
Conscious Adjective Aware/awake (opposite: unconscious) Please be conscious of your surroundings when you are walking alone at night time.
Coax Verb To convince (to do something) I am often able to coax my little brother into doing stupid things.
Intrigue Verb To cause interest in something I was intrigued by the deep-fried peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at the fair.
Diverge Verb To split/move apart The two roads diverged, so I wasn’t sure which path to take.
Converge Verb To move together (opposite of diverge) The three lanes of traffic converged into two, which caused traffic to build up.
Liberate Verb To set free I tried to liberate the lobsters from their tanks, but they just kind of sat there instead of running away. Turns out lobsters are stupid.
Scrutinize Verb To examine closely I scrutinized the picture, and it totally just looks like some dude’s hand, not a sea monster.
