Presentation transcript:

Fences, Barricades and Barriers More Equipment Fences, Barricades and Barriers Barricades are a device used to form a visual ‘obstruction’ only, maybe used as a fence (provided that the system meets requirements of a fence)

Fences, Barricades and Barriers More Equipment Fences, Barricades and Barriers Barriers, are a system that is Approved as a Crash Protection Device! Grandfathered specification to meet US National Co-operative Highways Report Program (NCHRP) Test Level, NZ now uses Manual for Assessing Safety Hardware (MASH)

Fences, Barricades and Barriers More Equipment Fences, Barricades and Barriers Any system used must conform with the Land Transport Act, Geometric Design Manual, Safe Systems, COPTTM, etc... All Fences and Barricades must be separated from Live Lanes by appropriate delineation and maintain prescribed Safety Zones (i.e. 1.0m for short term works, greater for long term works), Barriers also must be ‘Treated’ to ensure no solid impact obstruction is presented in an unsafe manner to traffic (i.e. End Treatment, Flare, etc...)
