Attitudes to help us become more like Father Patterns to Follow Matt 5 Beautiful Attitudes We’ve talked before about Jesus providing us with Patterns to Follow - In Matt 5 - Jesus gave us a list of “beautiful attitudes” - Attitudes that will help us Become more like Father. Attitudes to help us become more like Father

Matt 5:3-12 Bible Video - Sermon on the Mount - 2:06 min. Poor in Spirit: To feel humble, who are not filled with pride. (3 Ne 12:3 adds ‘who come unto me’) Those that Mourn: One must show a godly sorrow that leads to repentance. Meek: One who is not easily provoked or irritated and forbearing under injury or annoyance. Does not mean “weak”, but a meek person is strong and a person of complete self-mastery, has courage of moral convictions despite pressures of friends. Hunger & Thirst After Righteousness: Same as hungering after food and water after fast...must hunger for righteous things. (3 Ne 12:6 adds “they shall be filled with the Holy Ghost.”) Merciful - filled with compassion and forgiveness Pure in Heart: If you are to see God, you must be pure. Peacemakers: The troublemakers will be known as the children of Satan. Persecuted: If the youth stand up to jeers of the crowd, they shall be crowned with blessings of eternal joy. (Pres. Lee Poor in Spirit: To feel humble, who are not filled with pride. (3 Ne 12:3 adds ‘who come unto me’) Persecuted: If the youth stand up to jeers of the crowd, they shall be crowned with blessings of eternal joy. (Pres. Lee Bible Video - Sermon on the Mount - 2:06 min.

Matt 5:13-44 The Higher Law

So, you wanna be a disciple… True Disciples Do things for the Right Reasons You can’t receive the blessings of the Spirit that comes from performing those righteous acts unless you are doing them for the right reason.

Judge not, that ye be not Judged In Matt 7 the Savior taught us about the principle of Judging. How would you have liked it if those stickers I put on you as you arrived, had actually meant something? Some sort of judgment on my part? As it was they were purely random. Read Matt 7:1-2 Is that an absolute statement? Aren’t we to use good judgement in who we associate with or where we go? What’s the difference? Matt 7:1-2 Judge not, that ye be not Judged JST - Judge not unrighteously

Choose to be Wise Matt 7:24-27 - This was his conclusion to the entire Sermon. (if possible bring a medium/large rock to class and have it sitting as a visual aid throughout the lesson) May we be Wise & visit with Our maker a little each day & care more about He thinks of us than what the World thinks of us. Optional: Have class sing Wise Man - Primary song to close lesson. Visit with Our Maker a little each day & care more about what He thinks of us than what the world thinks of us!
