King William’s War

First of Series of four wars that made up French and Indian War 1689-1697 British and Iroquois vs. French and Indian Tribes American counterpart to War of Grand Alliance

To begin war, 1500 Iroquois attacked the French at La Chine In retaliation the French led the Schenectady Massacre Killed 60 people including 10 women and 12 children Attacked British because they were weaker in battle then the ally Iroquois

Iroquois suffered the worst losses in the war due to their weak ally War ended with signing of the Treaty of Ryswick in 1697 All things were returned to their pre-war state in the New World making the war in vain Iroquois continued fighting with French until peace came in 1701
