How to set up your Notebook Follow each step to get organized Stay organized by keeping up with your notebook at the end of every class

Step 1: Cover Your Name Course Name Period Decorate (At least 2 pics) Picture of something about American History AND picture(s) of something you like

Step 2: Numbering Pages Number your pages Starting with the first page (should be on the right side) number your notebook pages (Top or Bottom) Right Side Odds Left Side Evens Number up to page 20 1

Step 3: Introduction Page On page 1, write the following information (use the whole page! Use markers if you’d like) Your Name US History or APUSH (only 1) Period: Mrs. Elkins Room 235 Clicker #: Cubby #:

Step 4: Data Page Flip to page 2 This will be your data page Staple this page into your notebook

Step 5: Pages 3-6 Table of Contents (TOC) #: Assignment: Date: Graded:   On the top of pages 3-6, write Table of Contents Draw this chart on your paper.

Step 6: Fill in TOC – U.S. History Don’t staple your vocab in your notebook! Achieve Reading Activity Think about the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. Based on that law, would you have been willing to accept the risks involved in helping runaway slaves escape? Be sure to consider your background (gender, race, and so on). Discuss the benefits and drawbacks that would have affected your decision to help. Consider how each part of your life would play into your decision to help slaves escape. Support your answer with details from the article, as well as ideas of your own. 4-6 sentence paragraph on the same page as your Warm Up today (page 16!)
