Reactions with Acids Lab

Header Chemistry Name Experiment # 19 Date: __ Mods __ Reactions with Acids Partner

Objective To examine the reaction between acids and metals To examine the reaction between acids and carbonates

Procedure Use a dropper to put some of the acid into a test tube – about ½ full (carefully) Add a piece of the metal (or scoop or carbonate) Observe Pour material from test tube into waste beaker

Data Observations (2 for each reaction) Reaction A Reaction B 1. 2. Equation: Reaction B (Same for C, D and E)

Conclusion In this lab, we observed 5 reactions. The acid and the carbonate reaction produced __________, __________, and __________. The acid and the metal reaction produced __________ and __________.
