Using the A-Z magazines browse--can I get the most recent version of the Consumer Reports Buying Guide? What about the most recent issue of Consumer Reports? Using the A-Z databases guide, Find the “Garden, Landscape and Horticulture Index”. Once you locate and access the database, see what kinds of articles you can find on library programs and gardening. Bonus: An 8th grade student comes in to search for articles for her National History Day project at school. Use the databases by subject guide to identify a database to search. Once you find a database, search for her topic: African-American women during the Civil Rights Movement

I’ll use this as an opportunity to give a basic tour of the site, then I’ll focus on the “BROWSE” and “Medium” Options to illustrate how to find specific types of materials by collections, so that this is also a basic collections tour. Clarify that DLG only hosts a small percentage of total digital objects, but COLLECTIONS from other CHO’s are in DLG, and the items in those collections are owned by the holding institution.
