Participant Profile Young people (18 to 35 years) from different Caribbean islands Open to diversity of thought and have aspirations to become positive agents of change. Track record of participating & volunteering within Caribbean Muslim community. Commitment of time and energy to learning. Possess social media and IT skills. A courageous, action oriented risk taker. A potential strategic thinker with creative ideas and wants to shape and influence the future. A reflective practitioner who wishes to learn from experience, group work, as well as formal teaching situations.

FACILITATORS

6 MONTH PROGRAMME PART 1: PART 2: PART 3: 4 day intensive face to face residential self and skills development workshop (12/1/18-15/1/18) PART 2: 10 twice monthly online webinars Self paced E-Learning Modules 5 Month Community Project PART 3: 6 day intensive Summer Islamic Studies residential programme (4/1/18-9/7/18).

Learning Outcomes KNOWLEDGE: Understanding of key concepts of Islamic sciences. SKILLS: Leadership, management and mentoring skills to influence change in their community. IDENTITY: Gain confidence in identity as Caribbean Muslims. CIVIC ENGAGEMENT: Awareness of responsibilities to the wider society, and to relate their own personal development more effectively to this context.

Programme methodology Combines Islamic concepts and pedagogy with modern educational techniques and strategies. Engages participants intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually through activities, teachings, discussion and applications. In the company of professionals and the learned. Matched with a mentor who will support you throughout the programme Following the 4-day training program, the youth leaders will be tasked to undertake specific projects in their communities and be engaged in mentoring of other young people.
