TOPIC 12: PATTERNS and relationships Name: Zekiye Third Grade

PATTERN TYPES 8,12,16,20,24… REPEATED PATTERNS You can also name a pattern. For example this pattern above can be named: ABCABC or 123123 NUMBER PATTERNS (SEQUENCE) 8,12,16,20,24…

VOCABULARY Patterns: a sequence that shows repetition. It can be a shapes, letters, numbers, or other objects. Repeated patterns: are patterns that repeat over and over again. For example: this pattern is going; star, heart, star, heart and so on. Relationship: is a rule between two things (see examples on next slide)

Vocabulary The relationship(rule) in this table is multiplying by 3 Relationship (Pattern or rule) can also be in the form of a table. Number of Cloverleaves Leaflets 1 (X3) = 3 2 (X3) = _6_ 3 (X3) = 9 4 (X3) = 12 5 (X3) = __15__ The relationship(rule) in this table is multiplying by 3 Cars 2 3 5 9 12 Wheels 8 20 _?_ Find the relationship (rule) for this table.

Vocabulary Number Sequences: is a numerical pattern. For example: this pattern is skip counting by four’s. 12,16,20,24,28,32,36..

Did you know Did you know that you can identify a specific thing using fractions in any pattern. In this example 3 5 of the pattern has stars

Easy problems This pattern is going: star, star, moon, moon. Can you guess the next 4 shapes?

Easy problems This pattern is skip counting by a number. Can you guess what number it is? This pattern is skip counting by___ 9,12,15,18,21…..

patterns and relationships are easy to identify and name!!
