Britton’s and Wilson’s BREAKING NEWSletter March 20th– March 24th ELA: We are beginning Unit 8, which is titled Determining Important Ideas. We will make inferences, visualize, and identify the important ideas of various expository nonfiction articles. We will revise, edit, and publish our nonfiction animal books during writing. Vocabulary: Ban: “forbid something or prevent someone from doing something.” Permit: “allow something to happen or let someone do something.” Valuable: “very important or useful in some way.” Task: “job, chore, or other particular thing you have to do.” Unwind: “relax.” Stressful: “causing worry or tension.” Math: Our math skills this week will be shapes and perimeter. Announcements We hope you enjoyed your break! Report Cards go home on March 23rd. Our Honors Program is on March 24th at 9 a.m. Our lunch will be in our classroom. Flower Power – Fundraiser to raise money for playground improvements. Buy a flower for your classroom, 25 cents each. The class with the most flowers wins a party! I can recognize a pronoun. Test Dates: Math - ISP (Short Test) on Thursday. Please encourage your child to practice skills on mobymax.com as much as possible! Math Homework – Mon. – Review for state test and shapes Tues. – Review for state test and shapes Wed. – Review for state test and perimeter. Test on attributes of shapes is tomorrow. Thurs. – Review for state test and perimeter Be sure to encourage your child to read each night. They should be reading at least 20 minutes. Ask your child about what they are reading and what is happening in their book. They love to share their reading knowledge with you! ELA Homework – Homework packet is due on Thursday.
