More Lighting Tips
Rembrandt Lighting Set key light at a 45 degree angle up above the subject to one side of the nose. This lighting is dramatic. It is most often used with male subjects, and is commonly paired with a weak fill light to accentuate the shadow-side highlight.
Paramount Lighting Also known as “glamour” lighting is traditionally a feminine lighting pattern. produces a symmetrical, butterfly-like shadow beneath the subject’s nose. It tends to emphasize high cheekbones and good skin.
Split Lighting The key light only illuminates half the face and is slimming. This type of lighting can also be used with a weak fill to hide facial irregularities. For a highly dramatic effect, split lighting can be used with no fill.
Profile Lighting Turn subjects face 90 degrees away from the camera. Also known as rim lighting and highlights elegant features.
