Location: Where is it located? Absolute Location—Where exactly is it? Coordinates (33.74 N, 84.39 W) Address (2788 Normandy Drive) Relative Location Relationship of a place to other places IWA is North of the St. Louis

Place: What’s it like there? Physical Characteristics of a Place Natural environment Describing the land forms, water, climate, etc. “It is too cold in Siberia!” or “The mountains are majestic!” Human Characteristics of a Place Population, land use, language, religion, etc.

Movement: How and why are places connected? People, goods, and ideas moving to other areas Ex: “immigration” or “moved seeking…”

Human Environment (HEI): What is the relationship between humans and their environment? Interrelationship between people and their environments Humans depend on the environment Humans modify the environment Humans adapt to the environment What could be positive examples of HEI? Negative examples?

Regions: How and why is one area similar to the another? An area with unifying characteristics Physical Land forms, Climate, Natural Vegetation Ex: The Midwest Human Economic, Social, Political, and Cultural Ex: “They all have the Boston accent.”
