Why should/do you volunteer? * Career Booster : Innovation, creativity, character building * Real world experience : New perspectives * Teamwork: Uniting diverse backgrounds * Personal growth and self-esteem There are a variety of reasons, but for some it is a chance to give back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. It also provides opportunities to develop new skills or build on existing experiences or knowledge. Networking is also a benefit of being part of volunteer communities.

Americorps * A service organization that helps solve tough community challenges while gaining job skills and experience by expanding social networks and strengthening ties to the community * 27% increase of person’s likehood of finding a job *Transition you from military leaders to community leaders Engages more than 80K Americans in intensive service, including non profits, schools, public agencies or community and faith based groups. The program was founded in 1994 and more than 1 million AmeriCorp volunteers have contributed over 1.4 billion hours of service.

AmeriCorps NCCC AmeriCorps NCCC members travel the country strengthening communities and developing leadership skills on diverse teams. Members serve full-time for 10 months to address community needs and respond to disasters. AmeriCorps NCCC is comprised of two distinct service tracks: Traditional Corps and FEMA Corps.

AmeriCorps State and National Supports a wide range of local service programs that engage thousands of Americans in intensive community service each year. They provide grants to a network of local and national organizations and agencies committed to using national service to address critical community needs in education, public safety, health, and the environment

AmeriCorps VISTA AmeriCorps VISTA members are passionate and committed to their mission to bring individuals and communities out of poverty. Members make a year-long, full-time commitment to serve on a specific project at a nonprofit organization or public agency. Focus is on low-income communities.
