“ Acquire The Alta Attitude” Aspiring Learning Thinking Achieving Alta Murrieta “ Acquire The Alta Attitude” Aspiring Learning Thinking Achieving “Branching Out Proposed Reading Program”

Branching Out Reading Program Alta’s proposed Reading Program: We would like to reach out to the community and establish a working model for retired community members to work 1:1 with students as a way to promote good reading and positive reading habits. This program would run 3-4 days a week and would service between 20-40 students in 20 min. intervals during the students universal access time or their designated drop everything and read time “DEAR”

Alta Murrieta’s Plan For Reading Intervention! Guided reading! Model Reading! Coral Reading(reading together!) Accountability through the use of AR (Accelerated Reader Program)!

What would a schedule look like? Hours would be from 12:00-2:00 Tuesday-Friday and from 12:00-1:30 on Mondays due to the early out 2:00 release. 12:00-2:00 would be reading during grade levels after lunch recess during “DEAR” time. Adults would never have more than one student at a time and you can read in chairs at their level. Once we have all the volunteers identified and dates and time solidified we will make a global list . With the list completed we will then assign students to those times and our volunteers.

Welcome to Alta! Please sign in in the front office every time you come on campus. We have visitor passes for all to use.☺ School Hours are 8:45-3:00 all days except for Mondays they are 8:45-2:00 Our Office Staff is super friendly ( we have coffee☺). The front office is kind of hidden so please look for the flag outside the door and the interstate sign showing the number 3 representing us as the 3rd school in Murrieta. Parking should not be an issue as we have plenty of spaces.

Proposed Schedule Sample Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri 2 3 4 5 6 9 10 11 12 13 16 Times 12:00-1:30 17 Times 12:00-2:00 18 12:00-2:00 19 20 23 24 25 26 27 30 = No School Spring Break

Sample Model Reading Center Reading stations will be decorated in themes to help promote and stimulate your readers. We will have four themes in the room for you to choose from. On nice days you may also want to take your reading buddy outside for reading as well!

Sample AR books and Levels AR or “Accelerated Reader” is a program that we have that labels all of our books by ability level. You will be given the students range so he/she can be appropriately placed and reading at their level. Each book will have a green dot on it with a number that represents the books level. 5.4 would signify that the book is a 5th grade level book.

Striving for perfection! We at Alta are very excited about the ongoing success and academic improvement at our site. The amount of effort required by our staff to work together as a team to foster the best possible learning environment for each student is exceptional and definitely worth praise. We will be dedicated in our continuing effort to make sure that every child receives the best possible education and with your help we can offer assistance to our struggling readers. The Branching Out Reading Program is a chance for the community and the schools to develop strong partnerships that aid and support our youth in a positive way☺Last years support and envolvment help to raise our test scores to some of the highest in riverside county, Thank You! Reading is Important! Thank you for your interest☺
