Louis XIV Nicknamed the “Sun King”… what inferences can you make about this?

“L’etat, c’est moi!” What does this translate to? “The State, it is me!” What inferences can you make about the King based on this popular expression?

Louis XIV described… Strong, healthy & athletic Devoted to hunting Not particularly smart, but Interested in architecture, Landscape, theatre, ballet & the arts.

At 4 years and 8 months of age, he became King of France – named “Louis le Dieu-Donne”

Through his reign he increased France’s already enormous debt

He tried to increase France’s power through 3 major wars
