Social Emotional Learning AT Huband Park Elementary

Why is Huband Park Elementary focusing on Social Emotional Learning? We are learning to express our feelings and tell why we feel that way It is an important skill to learn how to do Some people have challenges being social and this helps It makes us more effective communicators It promotes empathy It makes our school community a healthier and safer place – a place where people want to be

How are we learning and Practicing Social emotional learning at Huband park Elementary?

Using communication while doing show and tell and sharing their thinking

communicating during Centers and reading groups

Practicing personal responsibility during a Spelling Test and Guided Reading

practicing thinking and work habits while writing stories and doing art

practicing responsible work habits and social skills

practicing communication skills and exploring who they are using books

practicing personal and social competency while taking care of salmon and doing science

The core competency crew From October until December members of the core competency crew were outside at lunchtime. They were looking for and celebrating students who were practicing personal and social responsibility.

The communication coaches Communication Coaches are outside at lunchtime. They are helping students to problem solve using Braidy from Story Grammar Marker.
