UPAL Overview Specialized sequence of honors-level courses and electives Experiences unique to each University Program throughout the four-year HS experience Allows for participation in athletics, co-curricular activities and academics

UPAL Common Themes Collaboration Problem-solving Critical-thinking Research Technology

UPAL Programs (1) Engineering Technology (2) Biomedical & Research Science (3) Global Humanities

Criteria Student interest and commitment to program Academic grades of “B” or better in middle school Teacher and counselor recommendations

Application Process Same application for all UPAL Programs Indicate first and second choice on application Applications will be available online Parent endorsement paperwork must be completed Submit via e-mail: UPAL@Lakeland.k12.nj.us Deadline: Friday, December 15, 2017

After Application… Curriculum office will contact middle schools after application and parent endorsement are received Information collected by Middle Schools: Teacher & Counselor Recommendations Academic Transcript Standardized Test Scores Selection Committee reviews all applications Second choice is only reviewed if not accepted by the first choice
