Do Now: Tuesday, December 5 Get your text book Put your agenda open to blue in top right corner of your desk Put everything else under your desk Open your journal and number 1-10 in pen

Use a pen and number 1-10, and write the words for the following definitions: 1. A sentence in the introduction of an essay that states the writer’s position, purpose, and thoughts on topic of the essay 2. A discussion or commentary that offers an interpretation of information gathered from primary sources 3. A position statement that asserts an idea or makes an argument 4. The quality of being trusted or believed. ( ending is ity) 5. Believable or truthful 6. The elements of a text designed to help locate, understand, and organize information 7. The art of using words to persuade in writing and speaking 8. Writing to explain or inform 9. Reasoning or facts given in opposition to an argument 10. An original document containing firsthand information about a subject

Use today’s journal to be a reflective learner! How many highlighted answers did you have? Take that number out of 10. If you had 10 highlighted numbers that means you do not know any of the words that you received 8 days ago. Think about the “signal words” in the definitions that guarantee the correct word. Be an active learner and make flashcards. Be an active learner and use the slide from today as a quiz.
