Inactive national guard Currently, only the Army maintains an ING If member served in the Army, they may become a member of the Army National Guard and request transfer to ING if unable to participate in regular unit training Required to muster once a year to remain a member Members would be recalled to active duty with their unit

Selected reserve National Guard/ Reserve Unit Reserve Individual Program May be recalled to active duty in time of war or national emergency May be ordered to active duty involuntarily for up to 270 days Serves one weekend a month and two weeks of annual training per year Training Requirements may be less than a Reserve unit Fill in vacancies in AC units during wartime (Army)

Individual ready reserve (irr) For members who have not completed 8 years or more of active duty service May participate in voluntary temporary tours of active duty and military professional development education programs May be involuntarily recalled upon declaration of National emergency Participation requirements may include an annual day of muster to satisfy statutory screening requirements

Full time support Purpose of the Full-Time Support (FTS) program is to train and administer the Navy Reserve. Allows Navy Reservists to perform in positions as full- time active duty members, supporting the Navy Reserve Force Receives the same pay, allowances, and benefits as active duty members Enlisted FTS personnel serve in demanding billets both at sea and ashore, providing the support necessary to prepare Navy Reservists to deploy when needed.
