Ninja Turtles? No, I did not see the Ninja Turtles in Italy. But they do remind me of the Renaissance. Can you guess why? Michelangelo, Leonardo, Rafael, and Donatello were all famous Renaissance artists!

Humanism A movement during the Renaissance based on interest in the Ancient Greeks and Romans. Believed in the worth of individuals and human society. Affected art because people painted non-religious subjects, and individual artists became well-known.

Why was there more art in the Renaissance? In Italy, people were inspired by the artwork of the Ancient Romans. People grew wealthy from trade. They now had money to spend on artwork. City-states were competitive and each wanted to have the best artwork.
