Scoring the SWYC

What it is and Why we chose it Survey of Wellbeing of Young Children Free instrument Screens 0-5YO Simple, short, low-literacy Easy to complete, score and interpret Translations in Spanish, Burmese and Nepali

Parts of the SWYC

Scoring: SWYC Milestones Each form includes 10 items. For each: Not yet=0 Somewhat=1 Very much=2 Add up all 10 to calculate the total. Missing items count as 0. Determine what specific age the child is (ie. 9, 10 or 11 months) Refer to the score charts

Scoring: SWYC Milestones If a child is in the average or above average range, highlight the milestones that the child has reached. If the child is below average, further investigation and referrals are recommended for any below-average scores. Briefly explain that you are referring the child for further developmental screening. Give parents the “Prescription for Early Intervention”. Fill out both the Early Intervention Referral form and the Health Status form and HAND IT to a clerk at the front desk to fax Write down the child’s information on the list under the clock!
