Very honoured to be here as the guests of the City of Melboune, RMIT and the World Cities programme.
Manchester has always been at the forefront of innovation with notable world firsts – The first industrial city The first inter-city passenger rail service The first observed nuclear reaction The first computer And, more recently, the discovery of Graphene In a world where climate change and innovation present new challenges, we are keen to work with other cities, to learn from their successes and share some of ours.
Greater Manchester: a history of working collaboratively The City of Manchester sits at the heart of the wider Greater Manchester metropolitan area. This gives us a lot of advantages in terms of huge potential for economic growth and also the challenges of 10 municipalities working together to meet shared objectives and rise to shared challenges such as those from the drive for smart and sustainable cities
