INDIA@COP22 ICIMOD REDD+ Himalaya • Participating countries: Bhutan, India, Nepal and Myanmar • Overarching goal: To improve the conditions for implementing REDD measures to mitigate climate change that are socially and environmentally sound in four Himalayan countries. Building a regional REDD learning platform to foster south-south learning www.indiaatcop22.org

INDIA@COP22 Contributions On behalf of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) through the International Climate Initiative (IKI) ICIMOD and GIZ work on: • Cross border learning and sharing • Creating common vision for REDD+ in the Eastern Himalayan region • Common regional methodologies development and sharing • Joint submissions from the region Project from 2013-2019 www.indiaatcop22.org

Regional platform to develop SIS INDIA@COP22 Regional platform to develop SIS • ICIMOD and GIZ together with the focal points of the four countries assessed the capacities and institutional set up needed to develop safeguard information systems • SIS protocols follow the Cancun safeguards and the analysis for Policies, Laws and Regulations (PLR) • ICIMOD drafted a submission to UNFCCC with the current state of thinking and issues in the HKH region. The submission is under review. www.indiaatcop22.org
