California Guided Pathways 2017-2018 California Guided Pathways Plus Governor’s Proposed Budget

What is California Guided Pathways? Guided pathways provide students with clear, educationally coherent program maps that include specific course sequences, progress milestones, and program learning outcomes. These maps are aligned to knowledge and skills required by four- year institutions and the labor market, thus ensuring that students can continue their studies and advance in their careers. https://www.caguidedpathways.org/

What is California Guided Pathways? The Guided Pathways Project has four dimensions: Clarify paths to student end goals Help students choose and enter a pathway Help students stay on path Ensure that students are learning https://www.caguidedpathways.org/

California Guided Pathways The California Guided Pathways Project: Under the fiscal agency of the Foundation for California Community Colleges Colleges will attend six institutes (September 2017 – September 2019) to help them implement the California Guided Pathways Project Colleges will pay a participation fee of $15,000 per year ($45,000 total) and will cover travel and staffing costs to get their teams to the institutes 15-20 California community colleges Applications are due on February 28, 2017 California Guided Pathways State Funding: $150 million for implementation Trailer bill to be released in February Allocation to districts to be determined https://www.caguidedpathways.org/

Governor’s Proposed Budget Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Growth 1.34% COLA 1.48% ($1.2 million) Student Equity & SSSP Same Level One-Time Funding $0 Physical Plant & Equipment (Block Grant) 76% reduction Proposition 39 – Energy Efficiency 25% increase Tuition Fees No increase Base Augmentation .38% ($300 thousand) Expected cumulative increase to STRS/PERS for FY 2017-18 = $2 million (subject to change)
