Fast Facts Africa has 54 countries plus a number of disputed territories Tallest Mountain- Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania Largest desert- Sahara Desert at almost 3.5 million square miles Longest river- The Nile- also the longest river in the world Most populated city- Cairo, Egypt (17 million) Over 2,000 languages spoken in Africa

Travel Facts Egypt is the most visited destination Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Mozambique, Gambia and Senegal also attract a lot of visitors.

Location

Africa is a very large and diverse continent!

In the North- large deserts, most notably the Sahara

In the middle and West of Africa - the Congo rain forests

East and South- the African Savannah

Because of the immense size and variety of Africa, it would be a massive task to study it as a whole. To make it more manageable, we will focus on one region:
