These men will be punished most severely. Ask a student to read out Luke 20:20 Then read story Luke 20:45 etc together with class – explain that as time went on Jesus became more popular with people & less & less popular with religious leaders.

Extension The Sabbath (Saturday) is the jewish day of rest. The Ten commandments told Jews to rest on the Sabbath. Why? Find the answer in Exodus 20:8-11 Read Luke 6:6-11. Jesus did ‘work’ on the Sabbath by healing someone. Think & answer: Was Jesus more interested in keeping rules or healing/forgiving people? Is he guilty of breaking God’s command? Why/why not? How did the Pharisees respond to what Jesus did? Why?
