November 9th The Gilded Age: The 30 years following the end of the Civil War Gilded: A thin coat of gold over a cheap/less desirable material

“The Men who Build America” During this time businessmen created large business organizations These men transformed every industry they touched, and their paths crossed repeatedly as they elected presidents, set economic policies and influenced major events of their day.  Vanderbilt Rockefeller Carnegie J.P.
