PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT By Angel Bustos Núñez

What is Performance Assessment? Also known as Alternative or Enthusiastic assessment . It is a form of testing that requires students to perform a task rather than select an answer from a ready-made list. Conduct a research Generate Scientific hypothesis Solve math problems Historical events Converse in a foreign language

Trained teachers/staff judge the quality of the work Performance assessment is mostly wide used to directly assess writing ability based on text produced by students under test instructions.

Methods to follow Portfolio Open-ended or extended response Extended tasks Portfolio Open-ended or extended response Should abortion be legal in all the countries? A school play Performance-based work “best pieces” of work Strengths and weaknesses

Advantages to use performance assessment It encourages students to actively demonstrate what they know. It is a more valid indicator of students’ knowledge and abilities. There is a big difference between answering multiple choice questions and making an oral presentation. Increases students’ understanding of what they need to know and be able to do. Prepares students to work on performance tasks. Teachers describe standards that will be used to evaluate performance. Allows students to judge the own work.
