Anthony Elizabeth Cady Stanton Lucy Stone -*faced constant opposition, men feared women would vote for abolition, child labor laws, & overall change the role of W in society -often treated unequally in the economic world

2. Consumer Reforms -insurance regulations :Coverage if hurt on the job -zoning laws : Where businesses can and CANNOT operate -building codes: Fire escapes, Lights in Dark Hallways -FDA 1906 (Food and Drug Admistration) Upton Sinclair “The Jungle”

5. Government Reforms -commission government members (commissions) -Decide local laws and best interest of community/ county/ town. ( basically rebuild ENTIRE city) -manager government : city council makes laws, manager runs city -better control over public interests

Voting Reforms -Direct primaries: people would vote for who they wanted to run as the parties candidate, instead of Political Machines -initiatives bill on the ballot, originated by people, not law makers -referendums people voting on the bill -recall enabling voters to remove elected officials from office, before end of term
