Cafeteria Style Meal Service Think “school lunch line” Participants select all required components their first time through the cafeteria line For Cafeteria Style meal service, think “school Lunch Line”. Cafeteria meal service operates as follows: • Participants must select the minimum required amounts of all required components their first time through the cafeteria line.

Cafeteria Style Meal Service Adults must supervise the line Children must leave the line with complete meal Adults must supervise the cafeteria line to ensure each participant selects at least the minimum required portions of all required food components. Children must leave the line with a complete meal.

Cafeteria Style Meal Service Point of service meal count is when complete meal is served and as child leaves cafeteria line minimum portion must be served • Point-of-service meal count must be taken when the participant has a complete, reimbursable meal in hand, and before or as they leave the cafeteria serving line. The minimum portion for each required component must be served.

Sometimes the larger programs use a hand held “clicker” or a “tick sheet” to record “head count” meal count. Whatever method used, some action must be made as each child passes through the end of the cafeteria line with a reimbursable meal.
