PEER TO PEER BitTorrent

CREATOR Bram Cohen

BitTorrent BitTorrent is a peer to peer file sharing communications protocol BitTorrent is a method of distributing large amounts of data widely without the original distributor incurring the entire costs of hardware, hosting, and bandwidth resources

How BitTorrent Operates A BitTorrent client is any program that implements the BitTorrent protocol Each client is capable of preparing, requesting, and transmitting any type of computer file over a network, using the protocol

LEGAL ISSUES There has been a vast amount of controversy over BitTorrent trackers

SECURITY VULVERABILITIES BitTorrent does not offer anonymity BitTorrent file shares often have little incentive to become seeders after they finish downloading

Future of BitTorrent As technology continues to grow and mature BitTorrent will become a major legal distributor of video content BitTorrent will be a major competitor to TiVo and TV networks This will all happen because BitTorrent’s relationship with media companies is continually growing and evolving, because the media companies see an obvious value in the BitTorrent community
