Making a simple telephone

Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone (1847 - 1922)

Two main parts of a telephone receiver (collects incoming sounds) microphone (sends sounds down a wire)

How does a telephone work? The microphone changes sound waves to electrical signals and pass them down the phone. How does a telephone work?

How does a telephone work? The electrical signals are changed back to sound waves and are collected by the receiver. How does a telephone work?

A simple telephone microphone (sends sounds down a wire) receiver (collects sounds)

How does a paper cup telephone work? Sound waves travel from one cup (microphone) to another (receiver) through the string (object).

How to make a paper cup telephone? You will need: 2 paper cups Some string

Steps Make a hole in the bottom of each paper cup. Put the string into the hole. Tie a knot so that the string doesn’t come out from the cup.
