DAY 2 Catholic Approaches to Scripture

Gerard Style SCRIPTURE EDITION

Early Years teachers don’t need to know much Early Years teachers don’t need to know much. Secondary teachers need to know the most.

Don’t teach something that has to be untaught later.

I need to teach Scripture the way I was taught.

The question is not, Did this really happen? The question is What does this mean?

I don’t need to read the background information/commentary.

Catholics don’t read scripture literally. Context/Text Model

The Old Testament is not as relevant to us as the New Testament

There’s no text without context.

I need two years to teach all the Scripture in my year level (go to the over-arching idea)

Less is more.

I will learn everything I need to teach Scripture today at REAP.
