Background of One Minute Manager

Different Types of Managers Autocratic Manager- The Manager won while the people he was leading lost. Democratic Manager- Manager lost while the people he was leading won. One Minute Manager- Manage themselves and the people they work with so that both the organization and the people profit from their presence.

The First Secret: One Minute Goals “Make it clear what the responsibilities are for the manager and the employee and what each person is being held accountable for.” Write goals on a single sheet of paper. Check to see whether or not your behavior matches your goals.

The Second Secret: One Minute Praisings Catch employees doing things right. Praise people immediately. Be specific…tell people what they did right. Show support by shaking hands Be consistent.

The Third Secret: One Minute Reprimands The reprimand happens as soon. Tell the employee exactly what they did wrong so there is no confusion. Attack the behavior not the employee. Be consistent.

The Manager “The best minute I spend is the one I invest in people.” “Feedback is the Breakfast of Champions.” Take a minute: Look at your goals, does your performance & behavior match your goals????

Summary One Minute Goals: Set goals to know exactly what they are and the standards you expect. One Minute of Praising: As a manager catch people doing things right!!! One Minute of Reprimands: Be immediate, consistent and clear. Apply… and share this gift!

Any Questions? Thank you!
