Presentation transcript:

Human trafficking distorts beauty, snatches away innocence and preys on the vulnerable. It exploits individuals, breaks apart families and destroys communities. The trafficking of people is an example of humanity at its worst – distorting beauty, snatching away innocence, preying on the vulnerable. It exploits individuals, breaks apart families and destroys communities, robbing people of their dignity and humanity.

6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. 1 Corinthians 13:6-8 We believe that the best way to respond to great evil is with great love – because love always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. It is love that compels us to respond, through prevention, rescue and rehabilitation, carving a path towards restoration.

was trafficked in India Kali, a 15-year-old from Aizawl (pronounced eye-zol) in India was out collecting cattle fodder when she was approached by a local border guard. He gave her the promise of paid work in Mumbai on condition that she tells no one about the offer. The trust she places in this authority figure is horribly exploited. She disappears. Kali, a 15-year-old who was trafficked in India

Kali’s parents, who contacted The Salvation Army for help Four months later, her distraught parents make contact with The Salvation Army, pleading for help or information. The Salvation Army is able to track the girl down, but the real tragedy slowly begins to unfold. The truth is shocking. Since going missing, this young, naïve teenager had been sold twice as a bride. Now her life was in danger from the border guard who, facing chargers of kidnap, false imprisonment and trafficking, has hired a killer to silence her. If it had taken just a couple more days to find her, it would have been too late. Instead Kali, who came within 48 hours of having her young life callously taken away, was provided with care at a shelter for vulnerable girls, not too far away from home. Kali’s parents, who contacted The Salvation Army for help

The Salvation Army is at the forefront of opposing the horrendous injustice that is human trafficking. Kali is just one of thousands of people that The Salvation Army is supporting whose voices are rarely heard but whose lives are precious. With your support we can be there to offer support and protection to people around the world like Kali, who still need it. With your support, we can be there to offer support and protection to people like Kali, who still need it.

We can also engage with vulnerable communities to educate them about the false promises of the traffickers and protect them from similar exploitation.
