What is Global Solutions in Public Works? an international exchange forum for information promoting leading edge and best practices in public works opportunity for limited funding for members of the global public works community to: explore cutting edge projects that might have application in their communities provide outreach to educate/share best practices with public works officials in underdeveloped countries participate in approved study tours

How Does One Participate in Global Solutions? Must be an APWA Member Can be an Individual Can be a group

Steps to Participate Identify a challenge or problem in your community that needs a solution Identify a “global” solution study tour through your own research that could benefit your community and other APWA member’s communities Complete the Global Solutions application that can be found at www.apwa.net Identify the person(s) who will most benefit and can Pay it Forward to the entire APWA membership

Steps to Participate (cont.) 5. Application is reviewed by the IAC for approval based on GS criteria 6. Upon approval a $1000 stipend from APWA National Global Solutions fund will be awarded to recipients 7. If your chapter is participating also, the chapter can elect to match these funds up to an additional $1000 per participant

Steps to Participate (cont.) 8. Once approved, participants work with the International Community or Project and begin working on objectives, agenda, and travel arrangements. 9. Participants travel and participate in study tour 10. Participants are required to share the best practices and lessons learned from the study tour by writing articles for the Reporter and APWA website
