Arts PAL Leaders Program MONASH ARTS Arts PAL Leaders Program Information Session for 2019 Leaders Program

WHAT DO LEADERS DO? Leaders take on a large commitment, and the functioning of the program is reliant on them for its effective running, direction and ultimately, its success All Leaders are responsible for running sessions at the PAL Camp, Coordinating Ambassadors during Course Information, O Week and Open Day events Organize and run events, provide articles & briefs for the website and newsletter on their events for their respective portfolio Develop and publish newsletters and maintain the Facebook page Run and attend regular Leader, Portfolio and Monthly PAL Meetings Mentoring of both Ambassadors and Peers throughout the year All PALs should have access granted on your student ID card to enter this room as of the first of semester. This room is for use when meeting with Peers and as a general common room. Please check booking sheet before using the room

COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE Residential Camp Friday to Sunday,15-17February Arts Orientation in O-Week Tuesday, February 19 & Wednesday Feb 20 Tuesday, July 16 & 17 Open Day Sunday, August 4 Other Events Monthly PAL Meeting (minimum of 4) Leader & Portfolio Meetings Portfolio Events – run by your Portfolio Ambassador Recruitment Information sessions in October (minimum of 1)

Improve your employability Enrolled in 0-point unit - Faculty of Arts Peers Ambassadors Leaders Mentoring Program  (CC- ENP2008) - Appears on Australian Higher Education Graduation Certificate (AHEGS) Reference Certificate And have heaps of fun along the way

PORTFOLIO OVERVIEW If you are applying for a position you will need to list your portfolios from first to last preference. Academic Leaders organize and run academic event, provide articles & briefs for the website and newsletter on their events Development Leaders organize social sports, charity and career driven events Social Leaders organize and attend social events, provide articles & briefs for the website and newsletter on their events Marketing Leaders develop and publish newsletters and post weekly on the Facebook page If you don’t receive a peer in O-week or week 1 then you have probably been put on hold for the few that sign up in weeks 2 onwards. Last year there was around 500 peers in semester 1. From week 3 onward peer numbers drop down to around 20 a week until about week four and then we only receive a handful of applications.

CO-FACILITATOR POSITION? Needs to be available to talk about PAL at events such as O-Week, Monash College Transition Sessions, Course Information Sessions and other events Hosts the PAL monthly meeting Update the Ambassador/Leader Handbooks Develop sessions, host and run the PAL Camp in 2019 Be actively involved in all aspects of the program A sample email can be found on 10 of your handbook
