Causes of World War 1, and World leaders of World War 1

Imperialism Imperialism is a policy of extending a country's power and influence through diplomacy or military force. This made people want to prove their right so they adventured off to concur and break down areas of land. Africa's land was divided by the Europeans without any sympathy. This split tribes and nations apart making them ruled by a European country. The same exact thing happened to Asia only they put up more of a fight. Although both Africa and Asia won the fights, Africa lost a lot more men then Asia

Alliances Many alliances were created such as the Triple Alliance, the Franco Russian Alliance, and the Triple Entente. These were formed between Russia, Italy, Britain which made up the Triple Entente and Germany, Austria Hungary, the Ottoman Empire which was the Triple Alliance. WW1was actually started with an alliance between Russia and Serbia that broke out into a large scale fight.

Militarism Military's were thought to be the over all power house. If you had the power of the military their was no fight you could lose. this made many countries think about the build up of their soldiers. Britain used their large army to push into conquering country’s.

Assassination On June 28, 1914 Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by a teenager by the name of Gavrilo Princip. This is what actually sparked the war between Serbia And Austria. The info was spread through out Austria, even to Franz’s uncle despite hating him wanted to save face for his family. He sent a messenger out with a list of demands to Serbia. Austria gave their demands and if they were not carried out World War would begin.

Leaders of World War 1 United States- Woodrow Wilson was born on December 28th, 1856 in Staunton, Virginia and died on February 3rd, 1924. he was married to Edith Wilson Germany- Kaiser Wilhelm II was born in Berlin Germany on January 27th, 1859 and died on June 4th 1941. He had seven children. Six sons and one daughter. France- Raymond Poincare was born on August 20th, 1860 in France and died October 15th, 1934 at age 74. Georges Clemenceau was born on September 28th, 1841 in France and died November 24th, 1929 at age 88.

Leaders of world war 1 Russia- Tsar Nicholas II was born May 18th, 1868 in Russia and died July 17th, 1918 by assassination. Alexander Kerensky was born on May 2nd, 1881 in Ulyanovsk Russia, and died June 11th, 1970, in New York City. Vladimir Lenin was born on April 22nd, 1870, in Russia, and died January 21st, 1924. Austria-Hungary- Archduke Franz Ferdinand was born on December 18th, 1863 in Graz Austria, and was assassinated on the 28th of June in 1914. Italy-King Victor Emmanuel III was born on November 11th, 1869 in Naples, Italy and died December 28th, 1947, in Alexandria, Egypt. Ottoman Empire- Sultan Mehmed V was born on November 2nd, 1844 in Istanbul Turkey and died July 3rd, 1918. Sultan Mehmed VI was born January 14th, 1861, and died May 16th, 1926 in San Remo, Italy.

Key figures Lawrence of Arabia- a welsh solider who from 1916 to 1918 organized the Arab revolt against the Turks Red Baron- Manfred Albrecht Freiherr Von Richofen was a German fighter Piolet with the imperial German Army Air Service during the first World War. Gavrilo Principe – a Bosnian Serb who assassinated Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria on June 28th 1914.

Key Figures Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria- Franz Ferdinand was an Archduke of Austria-Este, Austro-Hungarian and Royal Prince of Hungary and of Bohemia and, from 1896 until his death, heir presumptive to Austro- Hungrian throne. Vladimir Lenin- A Russian communist revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. Alexander Kerensky- A Russian lawyer and politician, who served as the second Minister-Chairman of the Russian Provisional Government in July- November 1917.
