CW-TW IC draft results 2. Remaining issues
FROM THE LAST ECOSTAT MEETING, 7 WORKING GROUPS HAVE ALMOST COMPLETED THE INTERCALIBRATION BALTIC GIG PHYTOPLANKTON (Common types BC4,BC9) BALTIC BENTHIC INVERTEBRATES (Common type BC5) NEA GIG SEGRASSES (Common type NEA 1/26) NEA GIG CW PHYTOPLANKTON (NEA 1/26, NEA 7, NEA 3/4
BALTIC SEA GIG PHYTOPLANKTON BC4 (EE,LV) Harmonisation on Clh a boundaries completed. Clh a data Pressures data (TN and TP) EE: 44 Samples (June-Sept) LV: 92 samples (June-Sept)

BALTIC SEA GIG PHYTOPLANKTON BC4 BENCHMARK STANDARISATION
BALTIC SEA GIG PHYTOPLANKTON BC4 COMPARABILITY ANALYSES National boundaries exceeding a biass of 0.25 class equivalents should be adjusted to fall inside this permitted level of deviation. The boundary biass analysis showed that boundaries adjustments are not neccesary
BALTIC SEA GIG PHYTOPLANKTON BC4 Draft Report provided Once the final report is completed will be sent to review panel (may be it is not necessary)
BALTIC SEA GIG PHYTOPLANKTON BC9 (EE,FI,SE)
Comparison of data set for common period (July-August)
Along the SE coast, the northern stations have lower salinities as a result of influence from south-ward current from the Bothnian Sea. Along the FI coast, the eastern stations have the lowest salinities, reflecting influence from the Gulf of Finland. Thus, the different freshwater sources can explain these very different gradients. Importantly, it can be assumed that the influence from the Gulf of Finland has a stronger anthropogenic component than the influence from the Bothnian Sea. However, part of the influence from the Gulf of Finland may also be natural.
BALTIC SEA GIG PHYTOPLANKTON BC9 (EE,FI,SE) Justifications provided for not changing reference conditions and boundaries To be reviewed by the review panel
BALTIC SEA GIG BENTHIC INVERTEBRATES BC5(LV,LT, PL) Poland has not participated (only one station/three samples) LT-LV: Same method (BQI), but different boundaries

BC5 Benchmark standarisation: Alternative benchmark sites (>15). The national assessments only differ at (relatively) undisturbed conditions but converge at the more disturbed end, so, each national EQR value was divided by the median of the EQR at benchmark sites of the subtype from which the data originate.
Comparability analyses: IC Option 3 National boundaries exceeding a bias of 0.25 class equivalents should be adjusted to fall inside this permitted level of deviation. No adjustments are necessary
NEA GIG CW-TW SEAGRASSES

Boundaries adjustments proposed, but it is neccesary to check again the results It is neccesary to introduce corrections in the technical report All MSs shoul fill in the information requested in the technical report
