Instructional Objectives “An intent communicated by a statement describing a proposed change in the learner” (Mager 1962) Describes how learner demonstrates that objective reached Describes important conditions Indicates how to evaluate performance

Objectives Answer Where am I going? How shall I get there? How will I know I’ve arrived . (What will be on the exam?)

Tips Avoid ambiguous verbs. Identify terminal behavior as narrowly as possible. Would another teacher be able to easily tell if students met objectives?
