Federated vendors SAML connection Proxy
Parallel implementation Ultimate implementation Maintain IP auth on-site Use OpenAthens to facilitate off-site auth Switch off on-site IP Positives Little change to the current UX Negatives Security Limited reports Positives Secure auth Granular user data Control access on individual level Negatives Users will be prompt to login
Connect to the user database Set up resources Accounts management Integrate with third party tools Update links Test GO LIVE Celebrate
GALILEO Implementation Support Pilots: Regular meetings Listserv Documentation wiki Training
Implementation readiness: what you can do now Inventory—all of your locally purchased databases, with vendor contacts when possible Groups—think about the groups of users (alumni, etc) IT—Talk with campus IT staff who manage identity/access/active directory
What IT needs to know OpenAthens is a well-established and secure SAML solution for libraries that libraries in Georgia will be using to manage authentication and access to resources OpenAthens will need to connect to the campus active directory in order to set up a connection This can generally be done via e-mail or during a short online meeting during which: OpenAthens will add your institutions IdP metadata file to the configuration Work with IT staff to set up attributes to be passed Map those attributes
Thank you!
